Structure of the Diploma in Educational Leadership
After completing the certificate course, you will study two further modules.
In the first module you will explore the practice of leadership of teaching and learning and the leadership of change so that you can achieve the following learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate understanding of the features of educational leadership that have an impact on the improvement of teaching and learning.
- Analyse how leaders in different contexts and at different levels of leadership apply these findings and insights.
- Evaluate the strategies and skills required to develop the quality of teaching and learning in your context and role.
- Understand the knowledge base and key theories about change processes.
- Demonstrate critical understanding of the literature on leading and managing change.
Plan and begin to implement action research to improve the quality of teaching and learning
In the second module you will develop your leadership of the professional development of staff to achieve the following learning outcomes.
- Understand the importance of staff development in relation to improving the quality of teaching and learning, school improvement and change processes.
- Know which forms of staff development are the most effective and have an impact on learning.
- Know how to develop staff in schools and other educational settings.
- Evaluate the impact of your action research on teaching and learning and on development of your own leadership practice.
- Review and revise your Personal Leadership Development Plan in light of what you have learned in this module.
